i have picked up the wikia and am currently doing quite a bit to manage, organize, and fill in info. i may later try to obtain administrator rights over the wikia, however a large issue is that i'm uncertain if this wikia is acceptable stand-alone or if it must be merged with the greater sims wikia, as they already have some information about the urbz series.
currently, i am working on:
- categories
- i have chosen to separate categories between console & handheld versions. this is going towards my vision that there will likely be separate directories, one day, on this main page that link to console info vs handheld info, as the difference between the two are drastic to say the least.
- i've already re-categorized all pages, though many are still missing the stub category.
- major categories in use are now:
- general: Article stubs & Candidates for deletion
- handheld: The Urbz: Sims in the City (handheld) (for ALL handheld pages), Urbz (handheld) (for individual urbz from the game), Locations (handheld), Gameplay (handheld)
- console: The Urbz: Sims in the City (console) (for ALL console pages), Urbz (console) (for individual urbz from the game), Locations (console), Gameplay (console)
- i know these categories are very broad and bare-bones, but so is the wikia. i would like to refrain from creating very specific, niche, or narrow categories until the wikia itself is more established and an actual need for more categories presents itself. until then, broad categories seem much more manageable and easier to grow with.
- handheld information
- i am currently working on getting high quality, transparent versions of sprites from the handheld versions.
- currently, i am obtaining all portraits (there seems to be 7 per character) as well as a few images of character's fullbody sprites. i am also grabbing the custom backgrounds shown for characters when talking to them.
- eventually i want to screenshot and compile images of locations so that we have full maps of entire rooms and etc.
- i have recently become aware of a sprite resource website that does already have many assets ripped from the game, and i may utilize some of these as they are free to use, but i believe many things are still missing from this website as well.
- i have also grabbed some smaller icons that may come in handy for aesthetic designing, this includes the ++ and -- signs, the exclamation point sprite above character's heads, as well as all the topic icons.
- i have not decided on a naming scheme for these images which has prevented me from uploading them yet.
- i am planning to work on kris thistle's page very soon.
- in doing so i will be deciding what information to include & where. my intention is to be very thorough, as this is an older game i feel it's appropriate to consider the wikia as an archival project and i want to document everything available.
- i would like to utilize the topic icons in a large chart denoting every dialogue option, so that will likely be my first objective.
- i'll be reworking on the infobox and designing a custom one suited for handheld urbz, likely just denoted as urb infobox (handheld) or something similar.
